Planning to turn your club's courts into smart courts? Here are 5 things to get right before installation.
The five things
- Camera positions: fix the angles and mounting heights for every court at the design stage, for full coverage with no blind spots and no distraction to players.
- Network infrastructure: cabling and PoE switches with enough capacity, with the camera network kept separate from guest Wi-Fi (VLANs).
- Internet bandwidth: high-quality live streaming needs a stable upload speed, so size it for the number of courts streaming at the same time.
- Lighting: even court lighting directly improves video quality, especially on outdoor courts at night.
- Booking integration: where the booking platform supports it, linking it to the system lets recording follow the reservation and makes it easier for players to find their videos.
Coordinate early
Most important of all, coordinate early between the contractor and the systems team. Changing cable routes after the glass and turf are in is harder and costs more.
